The 80/20 Diet for Optimum Health

There are few better ways to increase and maintain your health then through sticking to an 80/20 diet. An 80/20 diet ensures optimum health at every level. What is an 80/20 diet? The 80/20 diet is a ratio of fresh, living foods to cooked foods; 80% of your foods coming from fresh foods to 20% of your foods coming from cooked foods. The 80/20 diet is exactly what promotes the highest levels of health, energy and vitality and is the best preventative medicine to keep you healthy and energetic your whole life long.



Fresh foods are foods that are left in their natural state. They have not been altered or degraded in nutritional content in any way whether that be from cooking, processing or packing and that is exactly why they are so powerful! When foods are left in their natural state, often referred to as "raw" they truly become medicine to your body. Raw food are not the latest craze or diet trend, in fact they are the oldest and most natural way for you to eat. Why is that?

Fresh Foods Have a Higher Oxygen Level


Oxygen plays a vital role in the metabolism of living organisms. In fact oxygen is what is responsible for energy creation at the cellular level! Living plants circulate and utilize energy in a very real way. This living energy creates plant structures that posses a living component called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has the almost identical molecular structure to hemoglobin, a protein of your very own red blood cells. Your red blood cells are responsible for transporting oxygen and carrying away wastes. As you take in larger amounts of living chlorophyll, it is almost as if you are getting a cleaning blood transfusion. Your blood is cleansed and you are infused with the highest most pure oxygen levels. Oxygen is essential to your body. Wastes and toxins accumulate in your body when oxygen levels are low. Disease also is able to grow and thrive in a low oxygen environment. When your body has a plentiful supply of fresh oxygen it is able to be its most healthy, have a clean internal environment and have the highest levels of energy and vitality. 

Fresh Foods Contain High Levels of Enzymes 


The new frontier of medicine, even possibly Western medicine? Enzyme therapy. Why is this? Enzymes are the power of life. They are what make every function in your body work, they are the catalyst for living. It has been found, through promising new enzyme research, that most all health problems can be traced back to a lack of or a malfunction of body enzymes. Enzymes are alive and therefore very vulnerable to heat. Cooked and processed foods have no enzymes. Your body makes enzymes to digest the food you eat but it has been theorized that your body is programmed with only so many enzymes throughout your life. When those enzymes are used up they are gone. Fresh foods contain within them all of the enzymes needed to digest and assimilate that food. So when you take in fresh enzymes you give your body a boost and lessen the burden on your own body. If you never, or rarely eat fresh foods over time your body becomes enzyme deficient, first slowing down and then creating an environment conducive to health problems. Eating fresh foods replenishes your enzymes reserve, slows the process of aging and keep your health superior! 




Fresh Foods Contain Living Phytopigments and Phytochemicals


Phytopigments, the pigments naturally present in pant foods, each contain specific, diverse functions. They contain within them a multitude of phytochemicals, or active living plant chemicals. When we think of chemicals we think of pharmaceuticals, but these are man made chemicals and they are incomplete which is why they don't work to truly heal your body. Most pharmaceutical drugs contain one or maybe two potent plant chemicals, which are them mixed with synthetic compounds, filler, additives, preservatives and then sold as a drug. Plants on the other hand don't just contain one or two chemicals they contain literally thousand. Each plant food has a different portrait of living plant chemicals and each chemical has a different function. Some lower blood pressure, other regulate hormones, others balance the nervous system. Their functions are diverse and voluminous. Left in their raw state, these plant chemicals are still living and able to do their intended purpose. These chemicals are extremely powerful and one of the main reasons why food is literally medicine! They balance, regulate, and "tune up" our internal processes. Phytochemicals are also extremely sensitive to heat so once cooked, their effect is diminished. 

Higher Quality & Quantity of Vitamins & Minerals



Essential vitamins and minerals your body and mind need to function at the highest levels of health and well being are naturally abundant in fresh living foods. Vitamins are organic substances (made by plants or animals), minerals are inorganic elements that come from the soil and water and are absorbed by plants. Vitamins and minerals allow your body and mind to perform the hundreds and thousands of tasks they carry out on a daily basis. Deficiency in either causes stress to your body systems and processes. All areas and processes are degraded when you are not getting enough vitamins and minerals. When deficiency is present your body will compensate by pulling resources from other places such as less vital organs, systems and processes. Less vital, however still very important! For instance, if digestion is even remotely degraded you stop extracting, assimilating and eliminating your nutrients effectively and efficiently. Over time a vitamin and mineral deficiency can add up to tremendous health problems and significantly lowered vitality. Fiber


The cooking process degrades the natural fiber content of a food. The rough outer layer of most vegetables is an indigestible form of fiber that is needed by your body to keep your digestive tract and colon cleansed. One of the contributing reasons to such high cancer rates of the colon and other digestive organs in the US, is due to the lack of fiber in our diet and the absence of its regular cleansing effects. We also eat a high proportion of mushy, sticky processed foods that clog and slow down the digestive process leading to putrefaction and toxicity in the digestive system. Eating vegetables in their raw state is what gives your body the amount of healthy fiber it needs to keep the digestive tract cleansed and moving optimally. Fiber also helps to clean cholesterol out of the blood, balance blood sugar and aid in weight loss. 



There are also many more reasons why fresh foods are so beneficial to your health. When you keep at least 80% of your diet fresh and raw your body gets a plentiful supply of all the good stuff it needs to maintain your health and increase your levels of energy and vitality.
